The Fall 2014 Folklore in a Box is ready!
Inside, you will find: a storybook for kids that tells a favorite Tlingit trickster tale about how light came to the world, a mask-making kit that can begin an exploration of trickster tales from different cultures, a how-to for making a Day of the Dead altar for your family, a corn doll craft kit, plus games, a Sauk autumn story, and of course, our booklet that tells about the folklore of all these fall traditions — and about the Irish traditions that were the beginnings of the American Halloween.
Our boxes our beautiful, expertly-curated, and seasonal. They bring culture alive for kids and families. Inside, you’ll find folk art, books, crafts, myths and stories, celebration and activity how-tos, and much more. Our boxes teach about culture, inspire you to create and imagine your own stories, art and traditions, and are lovely and fun. They make great gifts for your crafty, worldly friends and their families, as well as for your kids’ classrooms.
Folklore in a box comes out four times a year and can be ordered individually or as a year subscription, delivered directly to your door or your child’s classroom.
For teacher’s we also provide a list of supplies for extending the activities to a whole class. We also do class visits in and around the Portland Metro area, when requested, to help expand the box into a full curriculum.
